About Ryan

As candidate for Sheriff of Musselshell County, I bring over 20 years of experience in law enforcement and corrections. Throughout my career, I've focused on confronting major criminal issues, including narcotics and gang investigations, financial crimes, and sexual offenses.

My platform is built on principles of leadership, transparency, accountability, and managing growth. I am committed to working with elected officials and community leaders, and dedicated to representing the victims of crime. I am prepared to address complex challenges while preserving our county's small-town culture.

My extensive background includes serving as a watch commander at one of the nation's most violent prisons, where I supervised over 100 correctional peace officers and 30 support staff. I also led an investigative unit targeting dangerous gangs and criminal organizations. I was recognized for seizing more than $300,000 in hidden assets from criminals who preyed on victims and their addictions to controlled substances.

Before my career in law enforcement, I served as an infantry squad leader in the United States Marine Corps, earning the prestigious Super Squad Badge, in addition to being the fastest-promoting infantry Sergeant in the 9th Marines, a title I still hold to this day. Following the events of 9/11, I re-enlisted in the National Guard and spent over a year dedicated to homeland defense.

I recently came out of retirement and have applied my skills to the Musselshell County Sheriff's Office, working as a dispatcher and currently as the detention officer. I am enthusiastic about keeping the Musselshell County Jail up to state standards. Additionally, I will be working to have Musselshell County serve as the state's example for supervising registered offenders who live in our community.
